Back Yard Adventures

School’s out! At least for the kids it is. Remember the days when summer meant freedom for you too? Well being a grownup doesn’t mean you can’t have a little bit of fun. Here are some ideas for a mini, backyard, vacation–even if it only lasts the weekend. Grab a partner and use these tips to start your homegrown adventure now! Isn’t summer is calling you?

Farmers Market Outing and Dinner: The summer months mean that farmers markets are up and running again. This is a great excuse to get up early with your beau and see what wonderful locally grown goodies your region has to offer. Make a whole day of it by coming up with a menu based on your finds at the market and then picnicking at a nearby park or creating a delicious dinner using your fabulous finds.

Be a Kid Again: Recreate memories from your childhood summers by indulging in the simple pleasures with your loved one–go for a bike ride together, buy some sidewalk chalk and create some fun, funky art together. Grab a bottle of bubbles, take a run through the sprinklers, or lay out and watch the clouds.

Journey to a Local Sonoma: Napa and Sonoma aren’t as far away as you think, explore a local winery near you this summer. Every year another winery pops up in the region, creating a bouquet of new tastes. Take a partner with you, together you can get lost in a charming valley trail and learn about wine making. Better yet, you’ll be sure to walk away with a new favorite white or red. Let yourself be captivated by the fragrance of a new adventure.

Stargaze together: Sure, you might be already starstruck by your special someone, but attempt to take your eyes off each other long enough to look up and behold the beauty of the bright lights above you. Check out a local observatory near you to get the best view your area has to offer, or grab a nice bottle of wine and throw a blanket down on the backyard and see what you can spot with your naked eye. In certain areas of the world, summer is a great time to see meteor showers, so pick a night to stay up late and look for shooting stars!

Roadtrip! Whether it’s to a far-off destination or the town next door, grab your favorite car snacks, create a killer playlist, and hit the open road with your honey. Create a list of all the places you want to see before the summer’s out and make it our mission to hit up each one together. Whether you want to explore all the seaside spots you’ve been dreaming about during the long winter, or have your heart set on exploring the nearby cities, travel is a fun way to make lasting memories with the one you love.
